About Our Next Roundtable
Jazz & the Art of Leadership: Using the Tools of Improvisation to Lead in Unscripted Moments
April 1, 2016 – 1:30 pm to 5 pm
How do you cope when faced with complexity and constant change at work? Here’s what the world’s best leaders do: they improvise.
Improvisation in business is not so different from a jazz musician, who produces a new tune on the fly, drawing from experience and context, collaborating with fellow musicians to draw out the most interesting notes and turning mistakes into part of the music.
We’ll turn our attention to Jazz and the Art of Leadership at our next Senior Executive Roundtable, to develop the tools of improvisation and experimentation.
At the piano and the podium will be organizational leadership guru Dr. Frank Barrett, also an accomplished jazz pianist who toured the globe with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.
Together, we’ll develop our ability to improvise through:
- Learning to identify and say yes to the best of what exists
- Embracing errors as a source of learning
- Balancing freedom and constraint
- Taking turns soloing and supporting
- Strategically experimenting to produce innovative results
Walk away better equipped to lead in unscripted moments and to collaborate with your team. Take home leadership lessons from the geniuses of jazz.
